The Kellis IP Weekly: Issue 3.1
Carnival inevitably means a slowdown in non-leisure activities, and the IP front is no exception. After last week’s Carnival celebrations, recent developments can be adequately highlighted in the newsletter’s In Brief format rather than by doing a deeper dive, as you will see below.

The USPTO's new Rio-based IP Attaché, Cairo Jennings, met with INPI President Júlio César Moreira and all INPI directors. The Federal Revenue Service joined forces with the city Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais to remove visible labels, brands, and logos from 7,000 articles of counterfeit clothing so that they could be donated to low-income and other vulnerable populations. Phase II of the EUIPO's IP Key Latin America program drew to a close recently, after offering more than 90 seminars, workshops, trainings, and other activities to more than 12,000 participants and holding 45 high-level meetings between EUIPO and Latin American offices. After a successful first edition in 2022, Uruguay's DNPI and WIPO are accepting applications for a second edition of the Intellectual Property Course for Women Entrepreneurs in Latin America: Creating Value through Intellectual Property.
